The road west does not reward ego, appetite, impatience, or arguing with your traveling companions. Unfortunately, that is most of the group.
Gene Luen Yang brings his expressive comics style to the unruly pilgrims of Journey to the West, following the friction and devotion that make the story endure. Here, Monkey’s mischief, Pigsy’s appetite, Sandy’s strength, Tripitaka’s restraint, and the journey’s stubborn renewal all have their part to play. Every step asks for discipline. Every disciple has other ideas. Somehow, the journey continues.
